Abstract

Connection for self-supporting telephone cables consisting of two metallic attachments, one at each end of a cable, which secure the steel wires of the armature by clamping them between a metallic cone and a metallic conical ring. The ring is tightened onto the cone as a hollow metallic component with an internal thread is screwed down over them. The two metallic attachments are connected by two metal plates and bolts. This restores the initial resistance to stretching of the cable, which is secured by the steel wires of the armature, and ensures electrical continuity of the sheathing. Telephone lines are connected by means of individual connectors or other means in the space between the two metallic attachments, and the entire connection is covered by a thermo-shrinking tube. The connection restores the mechanical and electrical properties of the telephone cable. It can be used to repair broken overhead cables and to enable the use of cable offcuts by joining two or more offcuts to form a usable length.
