Abstract

The invention comprises the compound 3-bromo - 3 - chloro - 1,1,2,2 - tetrafluoropropane and its preparation by halogenation with bromine or chlorine of 3-chloro- or 3-bromo-1,1,2,2 - tetrafluoropropane. Specifications 907,439 and 918,505 are referred to.ALSO:Inhalant anaesthetic compositions comprise 3 - bromo - 3 - chloro - 1,1,2,2 - tetrafluoropropane in admixture with suitable proportions of oxygen. Other anaesthetics (ether, chloroform, nitrous oxide, ethylene, trichloroethylene, cyclopropane, halothane, divinyl ether, trifluoroethyl vinyl ether, methoxyflurane), as well as stabilizers, may be present. Administration to animals is exemplified. Specifications 907,439 and 918,505 are referred to.
