[Also in Division D1] A fabric of natural or synthetic fibre or of wire is impregnated with and has a coating of polyurethane rubber moulded thereon by forming the fabric into a hose 1 preferably on a rotatable, perforated drum 2, surrounding the hose by a cylindrical drum 3 spaced therefrom, rotating the hose and drums and pouring polyurethane composition in liquid form into the hose, e.g. via a tube 15 so that the liquid is centrifuged through the fabric, the rotation being continued until the cross linking, and therefore the thickening, of the polyurethane is completed. The drum 2, which is mounted together with the drum 3 on a rotatable shaft 7, has a rim 10 at one end and a screw-on flange at the other to laterally limit the space 20 between the outer face of the fabric 1 and the drum 3. By pouring in the appropriate amount of polyurethane the space 20 is filled to form a coating and the fabric is impregnated. During centrifuging heat is applied by a steam coil 13 which is surrounded by an insulating wall 14. The impregnated hose may be cut open to form a sheet or may be cut to form a number of endless transmission belts. Enough polyurethane may be injected so that orifices 12 are filled, the orifices being so formed that projections of the desired size and shape are formed on the finished fabric or belt.
