Abstract

Jacquard operated control mechanism for a straight bar knitting machine in which switches in a bank, when closed, operate relays in the circuits of a plurality of rotary counting switches arranged to count differing numbers of courses or fashionings before opening. A cam on the machine cam-shaft operates the counting switches at each revolution and a second similar cam resets the counting switches in their initial positions after counting their respective numbers. The selected counting switches are operated in succession. In the embodiment described one set of counting switches count the number of courses between fashionings and a second set of counting switches count the number of fashionings. The selection of a counting switch puts the racking mechanism of the jacquard out of action until the switch or switches have completed their count.
