[Also in Division A5] A cabinet for the collection and storage of soiled linen mounted on castors 2 is closed at the top by a hinged lid 3 inside which is a rotatably mounted drum member 6 having a single opening 10 through which soiled linen is inserted when it coincides with top opening 8 of the cabinet casing, the drum being rotated to discharge the linen into a bag 21 supported within the cabinet. The bag may be shaken by hinged plates 13, 14 operated by a pedal 17, the drum 6 being also rotated by means of a connecting link 31. The bag 21 is square in crosssection and the top edges of two opposite sides are fixed to closing members 22, 23 provided with projections 24 by which the bag may be suspended and a key operated lock 27 coacts with a catch element in a member 23 so the bag may be locked closed to prevent theft or to isolate the contents. In a modification access to the interior of the cabinet is provided by a hingedly mounted door 32 and rotary movement of drum 6 is effected by a chain 33 and chain wheel 35 which is partially rotated by a pedal 36 against a tension spring 37. A separate pedal 38 operates the shaking down mechanism. Arms 40 may be operated to close the bag while within the cabinet. The drum 6 may be automatically decontaminated each time pedal 36 is depressed by means of disinfectant pumped by a pump 62 from a reservoir 65 through a hollow journal pin. A strip of oil-impregnated felt forms a simple bacterial filter for the bag mouth.
