Abstract

997,573. Chucks. L. J. MISURACA. May 10, 1962 [May 22, 1961 (2)], No. 17954/62. Heading B3B. [Also in Division B6] A motor driven eraser (see Division B6) has a centrifugally actuated chuck 34 for gripping the eraser 28 during operation. The chuck comprises jaws 58 which are rocked by centrifugal force into the full line position shown in Fig. 2, such that portions 68 bite into the perimeter of the eraser 28 when the eraser is driven. On stopping the motor 14, the jaws return to the broken line position to release the eraser which is received in a drive shaft 22 having a bore of corresponding non-circular shape. The eraser is retained by a ball detent 72.
