Abstract
997,256. Valves. ROSS OPERATING VALVE CO. Feb. 7, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 5313/64. Heading F2V. A main valve is actuated once for a given number of actuations of a solenoid-operated pilot-valve in a similar manner to that described in Specification 838,387, but a further valve is added immediately upstream of the main valve. With the further valve in the position shown, a pressure signal applied to a port 27 will cause the spool 18 to move to the right, since seal 19 has a larger area than seal 21, so withdrawing the latter from a bush 24. A pressure signal applied to a second port 28 will flow into spool bore 15 and out of a port 29 whilst pressure is applied to port 27; should the signal at the latter be removed the signal at port 28 will return the spool to the position shown so connecting the bore 15 with an exhaust port 31 and disconnecting ports 28, 29. If the signal at port 27 is removed after that at port 28, the spool will remain in the right-hand position.
