Abstract
996,788. Cine apparatus. INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Aug. 15, 1963, No. 32248/63. Heading G2E. Continuous feed cine projection apparatus has a rotating lens 14 to compensate for the motion of the film and provide the necessary intermittent stationary projection of each frame. The lens 14 may be symmetrical double convex, thick relative to its diameter, cylindrical, or a lens having more than two convex surfaces. Lens 14 is rotated about an axis normal to the optical axis of the projector, and the surfaces of radius R are less than hemispherical so that their centres of curvature describe a circle 37 of radius D as the lens rotates. The recommended dimensions for least distortion are given by: - where N is the number of surfaces. Lens 14 is driven on its shaft 16 by pulley 18, pinion 17 meshing with gear 10 to continuously drive the film sprocket 8. Further, stationary lenses 12,19 are placed between film guides 3, 4 and lens 14, and the usual masking aperture 22 and objective 23 are provided. The system may also be used with a continuous feed cine camera. Lens 14 may be an achromat and may have more than two spherical surfaces.
