A dispenser for pellets 36 of dentifrice comprises a housing 30 for a magazine or receptacle 34 of pellets, a channel beneath the receptacle to receive the head of a toothbrush 23 and a dispensing head 50 operated by movement of the toothbrush head in the channel to dispense the pellets one at a time on to the toothbrush head. Spaced toothbrush racks 20 are interconnected by a lower guide plate 24, which forms the base of the channel, and the upper wall of the channel is formed by a plate 32 interconnecting the side walls 31 of the housing 30 and having a delivery slot. The distributer head 50 is adhered to and closes the base of the magazine, which is formed by folding and glueing the blank shown in Fig. 8. The head rests on the upper surface of the plate 32 and has a rear wall 56 forming a delivery shoot to the discharge orifice 58, a slide 60 with a charging chamber 61, and a depending finger 70 which is engaged by the entering toothbrush head to displace the slide 60 along guide rails against the action of return spring 62 to dispense a single pellet through the discharge passage 72. The charging chamber 61 is covered by the wall 56 at the time of discharge so that only one pellet is dispensed at a time. An agitator leaf 44 is moved by a finger 65 of the slide to prevent coagulation of the pellets in the magazine. The pellets are of compressed powder or viscous paste with a surface glaze and after reception in a cavity in the brush head, formed by shorter bristles, are smeared on the bristles by a wiping edge 33 on withdrawal of the brush head:
