Abstract
996,232. Shelf supports. RHODESIAN TIMBERS Ltd. July 2, 1963, No. 26181/63. Heading A4B. Shelves 2 are supported between slotted uprights 1 by straight and L-shaped shelf support elements 4, 5, respectively, which have slots 6, such that when they are located in a slot 3 of the upright 1 their slotted ends project past the faces of the uprights 1 and are engageable by downwardly directed tongues 13 provided on the ends of the shelves 2, the engagement of the tongues 13 in the slots 6 of the shelf support elements 4, 5 being adapted to produce a locking action to hold the shelf ends on to the upright. Timber shelves 2 and uprights 1 are shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the shelves having metal brackets 11, 12 with tongues 13 secured to their ends. However metal shelves 2b and uprights 21 may be used, where the end uprights, Fig. 12, comprise L-section members 21 connected by cross-bars 23 so that aligned flanges 22 provide the slots 3. Intermediate uprights comprise T-section members, or two L-section members placed back to back, and connected by cross-bars 23. The metal shelves 2b may be formed with integral flanges and tongues 13. Metal front pieces 28, Fig. 11, slotted partitions 33 and sub-shelves 2c may be mounted on and between adjacent shelves and uprights.
