As shown in plan in Fig. 1 and in elevation in Fig. 2 a store having a great many compartments 1 for various articles, which compartments 1 are arranged in side-by-side and superimposed relationship, is characterized by the fact that the compartments 1 are disposed on a number of horizontal endless conveyers 2. All the conveyers 2 disposed in one vertical row are operable from a point 7 at one end, at which point articles may be placed in or removed from a compartment 1 brought to the point 7 for that purpose. The conveyers 2 may either be normally moving or normally at a standstill. The entire store may be operated by one operator provided with a conveyer to permit him to move along a track 10. The articles removed from the store may be placed in cars (not shown) movable along a track 11.
