Abstract

994,663. Boring earth &c. L. C. MOORE CORPORATION. Sept. 29, 1961 [Dec. 9, 1960], No. 35143/61. Heading E1F. [Also in Divisions B7 and B8] Portable earth boring apparatus comprises a tractor 10, trailers 3, 1, a mast support 21 on the trailer 1, a mast 45 releasably pivoted to the support at 36, a support 46 on the trailer 1 adapted to support the reclining mast, and a draw works 51 on the trailer 1 between the supports. Prior to erection of the mast the weight of the trailer 1 is taken on jacks 41, 68, and a sub-structure 38 is connected to the trailer by pins 37 and links 39. The mast is extended, and raised by means of the drill line 70, a gin pole 48, a sling 73, a tension member 74 and the draw-works, the mast being held in the upright position by fixing it to the pole. The draw-works is raised to a position (Fig. 2) suitable to drive a rotary table supported by beams 33 by connecting the sling 73 between the travelling block 72 and a link 58, and operating the draw-works to pivot links 58, 63 located between the trailer 1 and the draw-works frame 55, the draw-works being locked in the raised position by steps 78. If the mast is to be moved by the tractor and trailer 3, the reclining mast is detached from the support 21 at 36, and tilted about the support 46 so that the members 85 on the mast may be fixed to brackets 86 on a tongue 13 and the mast rests on rollers 83 of arms 82. After the trailer 1 has been disconnected the tractor is driven forward to extend the tongue and to pull the mast forward on the rollers. Before moving the mast is fixed to the arms 82 by links, and the tongue is fixed by a pin. Specifications 994,664 and 994,665 are referred to.
