A spinning-pot has a removable false bottom in the form of a plate with a raised edge 3. One edge can be at an angle of 90 degrees or more to the plate which can be of stainless steel, or of synthetic material (e.g. polyester resin) with or without a reinforcement of glass fibres. The plate may be centred by a device attached to the plate or a device in two parts, of which one is attached to the plate and one to the pot and the plate and package may be removed from the pot by introducing gas or liquid through a hole 5 or by mechanical means.
