994,232. Washing bottles &c. DAWSON BROS. Ltd., G. DAWSON, and D. DAWSON. May 6, 1964 [Feb. 9, 1963], No. 5375/63. Heading B8T. In bottle washing apparatus of the kind in which bottles &c. are conveyed through a succession of tanks or compartments and therein subjected to soaking in and/or jets of detergent liquid, and also in some compartments to pre-rinsing and a final rinsing, the rinse tanks and the piping, header boxes &c. through which rinse water passes are flushed out with hot detergent or other liquid by means of the pumping equipment normally used for serving one or more of the detergent tanks. A detergent tank 1 has header boxes 2, 3 with jets supplied by a pump connected by a pipe 4 to an isolating valve 5. A final rinse tank 6 has header boxes 7, 8 with jets supplied via valves 11, 12, and header boxes 14, 15 with jets supplied via a valve 20 and a heat exchanger 18. The valves 11, 12 and 20 are coupled to a water supply pipe 13. To provide a flushing of the rinse tank and piping &c., a hose part 21 of the water supply pipe, Fig. 2, is disconnected from the valves 11, 12 and 20 after closing an isolating valve 23 and replaced by a detergent hose part 22. Alternatively, a single hose may be used with one end connected to the valve 11 and its other end alternatively to the water pipe 13 or detergent pipe 4.
