Cigarettes are conveyed from an endless belt 1 to a second endless belt 16 by a rotating disc 8 having flanges 9, 10 on which the cigarettes rest. Between the output of the disc 8 and the belt 1 is an auxiliary endless belt 12. The cigarettes are controlled by pliable strips 5 and 7 as they fall from the belt 1 on to the disc 8.
