Abstract

994,017. Soap-moulding die inserts. COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO. March 13, 1964 [March 26, 1963], No. 10782/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B6] An apparatus suitable for moulding cakes of soap comprises a die box 10, a lower die member 12, and an upper die member 11 having a forming surface 15 and supporting within a recess 18 a plastic embossing panel 23, the exposed surface 24 of which is substantially continuous with the surface 15 except for the interruption by the design formation 25 on the panel. The panel is moulded into the member 11 by pouring or injecting an epoxy resin into the chamber 18, Fig. 8 (not shown), and is secured in position by at least one screw 39, the threaded end 41 of which is embedded in the epoxy resin before it sets. Conventional arrangements are stated to be used to achieve relative movement between the members 11 and 12 and to introduce the body of soap into the mould cavity 13. The members 11 and 12 are provided with sharp edges 16 and 17 respectively and the members may be composed of stainless steel or a hard plastics material.
