994,016. Welding by pressure. BUDD CO. March 11, 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 10348/64. Heading B3R. A resistance welding electrode holder is provided with at least one protective or wearresistant plate bonded to and electrically insulated from at least one side. The electrode holder 12 having a coolant passage 18 and carrying an electrode 11 has two stainless steel plates 13, 14 bonded to its opposite sides by tapes 15, 16 of adhesive, thermo setting and insulating material. The cast surfaces of the holder are machined to provide flat surfaces which are cleaned with trichlorethylene before applying the tapes, applying pressure and heating to cure the tapes. Epoxy bonded glass fabric tapes may be used.
