Abstract

993,852. Juice extractors; graters. BRAUN A.G. Nov. 1, 1961 [Nov. 4, 1960; Dec. 20, 1960], No. 39068/61. Heading A4C. Comminuting apparatus comprises a stator 12 and a rotor R provided with protuberances 18 which extend into a comminuting chamber 13a between the stator and rotor. The rotor consists of a hub 19 on which are mounted members 15 and 16. The member 15 may be provided with teeth for engaging matter to be comminuted which is fed thereto past a deflecting plate 9 through a hopper 8. The member 16 has helical grooves 17 and is also provided with the protuberances 18. A carrier 1 supports the rotor R and detachably supports a housing 4 to which is attached a lid 7 on which is mounted the stator. The comminutor may be used as a juice extractor in which the stator is provided with perforations through which juice passes to a chamber 13 to be collected from a spout 5. The dehydrated matter is passed through a channel 20 to a shoot 2. When used as a mixer the stator 12 is imperforate the mixed matter passing into the shoot 2. The comminutor may also be used as a coffee grinder, the hopper 8 being then preferably located centrally of the rotor R and a larger chamber 13a being provided. The housing 4 may be attached to the carrier 1 by a bayonet-type joint.
