Abstract
993,269. Utilizing inertia to obtain movements in machinery. D. J. TULLIS Ltd. April 27, 1962, No. 16083/62. Heading F2X. A load-carrying beam 1 suspended from a crane may be turned into any desired position by rotation of a flywheel 8 driven from an electric motor 6 mounted on the beam 1. The motor 6 is controlled from a box 9 conveniently mounted in the crane cab. A change of rotational speed of the flywheel 8 is accompanied by a reaction torque on the motor casing, and hence the beam 1, in the opposite direction.
