Abstract
993,081. Refuse bins. ALPHAG UNIVERSAL SCALING MACHINE CO. Ltd. Jan. 30, 1963, No. 3759/63. Heading A4A. [Also in Division G5] A litter bin (Fig. 1) is mounted on a lamp post 2 and comprises a pivotable lid 9 of cylindrical shape having an aperture 8 and pivoted by handles 10. Litter is placed in lid 9 which is then pivoted about points 11 to deposit litter in a wire basket (Fig. 2, not shown) in the body 1. The lid returns to an upright position by gravity or spring loading. A side door, not shown, in body 1 allows removal of the basket. Operation of the lid 9 moves an endless display band exhibited at 3 behind a window. Fig. 4 shows a bin 41 with a hinged lid 45, whose opening closes electrical contacts to initiate an advertising display in unit 43.
