Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula ZCHX.NHCOCH2F, where Z is hydrogen or trihalogenomethyl, and X is benzthiazol-2-ylthio, fluoracetamido, benzoyloxy, alkylthio, halogenophenylthio, thiocyanato or dialkyldithio phosphoryl; and their production by reacting a compound HalCHZ.NHCOCH2F with MX, where M is alkali metal or ammonium, e.g. in acetone or aqueous acetone. The compounds of the invention are pesticides (see Division A5). N - (1 - Hydroxy - 2,2,2-trichloroethyl) fluoroacetamide is prepared from fluoroacetamide and chloral, and is reacted with SOCl2 to give N-(1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl) fluoroacetamide.ALSO:Pesticidal compositions comprise a compound of formula CHXZ.NHCOCH2F, where Z is hydrogen or trihalogenomethyl, and X is benzthiazol-2-ylthio, fluoroacetamido, benzoyloxy, alkylthio, halogenophenylthio, thiocyanato or dialkyldithiophosphoryl (see Division C2) in association with a carrier or diluent. The compositions may be solutions, emulsions, aerosols, dusts, wettable powders, granulates, pellets, pastes or thermal fumigating mixtures. Examples make up formulations containing polyethylene glycol ethers and acetone or methanol, or diacetone alcohol with surface active agents and naphtha.
