992,596. Electrophotographic materials. KALLE A.G. March 1, 1962 [March 3, 1961], No. 8071/62. Heading H1K. An electrophotographic material which consists of a base supporting a photo-conductive layer has at least the surface of the base consisting of regenerated cellulose (or regenerated cellulose esters or ethers) containing 10-20% wt. of a plasticizer. Plasticizers specified are ethylene glycol and glycerol. These may be incorporated by pulling the regenerated cellulose in sheet form through their respective aqueous solutions. Suitable photoconductors, given as examples, are cadmium sulphide, lead iodide, zinc oxide, oxazoles, oxadiazoles, imidazoles, triazoles, thiazoles, and triphenyl methanes. Many natural and synthetic resinous materials are specified as binders, and these may be plasticized if desired. The plasticized regenerated cellulose may be used as the sole support or it may be stuck to a thin paper backing. The specific embodiment has a film of regenerated cellulose plasticized with glycerol and supporting a photoconductive layer containing zinc oxide, a styrene modified alkyd resin, and a cobalt naphthenate drying agent.
