Abstract
A rubber compound comprises a mixture of (1) from 10 to 90 parts by weight of a polybutadiene containing monomeric units of cis-1,4-, trans-1,4- and 1,2-addition, in which the cis-1,4-addition units form at least 30% by weight of the polymer and (2) from 90 to 10 parts by weight of a butadiene-styrene copolymer extended with mineral oil containing butadiene and styrene in a ratio by weight of between 13:7 and 2:3, and the oil being present in an amount of at least 15% by weight of the copolymer, the total of the parts by weight of the elastomeric components in the mixture being 100. From 10 to 55 parts by weight of a further butadienestyrene copolymer containing butadiene and styrene in a ratio by weight of between 49:1 and 13:7 may be included in the rubber compound. The rubber compound is mixed with the usual vulcanizing agents, fillers, plasticizers and anti-oxidants and is fabricated into motor vehicle tyres.
