991,708. Clocks and watches. LIP SOC. ANON. D'HORLOGERIE. Sept. 8, 1961 [Sept. 17, 1960], No. 32409/61. Heading G3T. In a timekeeping escapement comprising a palleted anchor 4 engaging an escape wheel 2 driven through a pinion from a driving wheel 1, the three pivot centres 4, 2<SP>1</SP>, 1<SP>1</SP> form an angle of approximately 90 degrees, and the escape wheel pivot 2<SP>1</SP> is adjustable along a line substantially parallel to the tangent at the point of engagement of the driving wheel with the escape wheel pinion, in order to vary the depth of engagement and lock of the pallets with the escape wheel. The pivot 2<SP>1</SP> may be carried on an arm mounted in the line of the pivots 11, 2<SP>1</SP> by a screw, the adjustment being obtained by bending a part of this arm or turning the arm about its mounting screw. Alternatively, the pivot 2<SP>1</SP> is carried by an elongated plate adjustable rectilinearly in the line of the centres 2<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP>. In a modification, a fixed plate of the escapement is cut out to form a member carrying the pivot 2<SP>1</SP>, which member can be bent in the direction to provide the adjustment.
