Abstract

A window-cleaning composition in aerosol form and suitable for packing in a pressure-tight container comprises, by weight (a) 5-50 parts of a grease solvent boiling above 60 DEG C., suitably a petroleum distillate fraction boiling at 60-250 DEG C. such as white spirit; (b) 0.1-15 parts of a grease adsorbent such as kieselguhr, china clay or bentonite; (c) 0.5-10 parts of a surface active agent, preferably an alkylphenol-ethylene oxide condensate; (d) 30-95 parts of water; and (e) a liquefied gas propellant boiling below 20 DEG C. at atmospheric pressure and temperature, such as a lower alkane or a lower alkyl chloride, but preferably a fluorinated or fluorochlorinated hydrocarbon having the formula CaHbClcFd, where a is 1 or 2, b and c are each an integer or zero, and d is an integer so that (b + c + d) = 2a + 2. The composition may also contain up to 10 parts of a volatile base such as ammonia, morpholine or isopropylamine, up to 20 parts of a C1-4-alcohol, up to 2 parts of a silcone such as polydimethylsiloxane, up to 2 parts of an insecticide such as 1 : 1 : 1 - trichloro - 2:2 - bis (p-chlorophenyl) ethane, and up to 5 parts perfume.
