Abstract

991,226. Moulds for synthetic resin articles. ROHM & HAAS CO. July 23, 1963 [Aug. 7, 1962], No. 29143/63. Heading B5A. Wedge-shaped pieces are formed from a liquid polymerizable material, e.g. methyl methacrylate, by casting in a mould comprising glass plates 1, 2 held together by clamps 9 and spaced by resilient rods 3, with a sheet 7 of " Cellophane " (Registered Trade Mark) passing alternately above and below the rods. The monomer or monomer-polymer mix is poured into the mould spaces with the mould walls in a vertical position. After pouring, the upper end of the mould is sealed. In a modification, two spacing rods only may be used with the sheet stretched diagonally across the mould. Openings are provided at the bottom of each compartment to equalize the pressure in each compartment.
