Abstract
990,348. Web treating apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK BENNINGER A.G. July 5, 1963 [July 5, 1962], No. 26791/63. Heading D1L. A device for regulating the mixture quantity in a vat, through which a web to be treated is continuously passed, comprises an adjustable regulator for the mixture level in the vat coupled with an indicating device having a scale which indicates the mixture level. The device enables the level in the vat to be adjusted so as to determine a desired contact length-i.e. the length of web submerged in the mixture, of web passing through the vat. In the device shown web B is passed through vat 1 containing treating liquid F. The liquid level in the vat is controlled by a regulating device consisting of a tubular portion 5 inserted in the base of the vat 1 and having therein a piston 6. The latter is connected to a tubular piston rod 8 such that the latter serves as an overflow tube for the vat and the height of its upper end in the vat determines the height of the liquid level in the vat. The adjustment of rod 8 is effected from outside the vat 1 by levers 9, 11, the lever 11 being connected to rod 8 by pin and slot connection 12, 13. The lever 9 can be locked in its adjusted position by wheel 16 in a slotted segment 14 and a pointer 18 indicates on a suitable scale the corresponding liquid level and 'contact length' of the web in the vat.
