Abstract

[Also in Division G6] In a turbine marine power plant, the primemover is of the type described in connection with Figs. 7, 8, and 9 of Specification 904,966. In one form, incorporating a nuclear reactor, sea water used as the prime-mover condensing fluid, is pumped through the condensing zone by vanes mounted on the output shaft. Alternatively, the vapourizing gas from the reactor, is cooled after passing through the prime-mover and is subsequently employed in the turbine condensing zone. In a further embodiment the prime-mover is heated by gas from a combustion chamber. The exhaust gases heat the incoming combustion air in a heat exchanger. The primemover may employ mercury as the working fluid and two prime-movers may be arranged in cascade, the coolant of the first serving as the heating medium of the second.
