989, 542. Photographic processes; photomechanical printing. V. ROBNONI, F. ALLEGRANZINI, F. ALLEGRANZINI, L. ALLEGRANZINI, and G. ANDREINI [trading as ROGNONI DI VIRGILIO ROGNONI &C. SOC. IN NOME COLLETTIVO]. Jan. 3, 1962, No. 251/62. Headings G2C and G2M. A process for producing a multicoloured decorative print on a surface comprises applying to the surface a light sensitive bichromated glue layer, exposing the layer through a photographic plate selective for a given colour, washing away the unexposed bichromated glue, colouring the remaining bichromate image, applying a transparent insulating layer, and repeating the steps for each desired colour. The image colour may be incorporated in the bichromated glue or colour may be added before or after the washing step. The image may be formed by contact printing or by projection and the plate may be ruled with a member of parallel lines to simulate a half-tone print, in this latter case the lines of each colour separation may be at a different angle to the other. The surface may be wood, plastics, metal, glass, smooth or rough walls, ceramic tiles, or cloth.
