Abstract

A corrosion-inhibiting coating composition especially for galvanized sheets consists of a coumarone/indene resin and a wax plasticizing agent, e.g. paraffin wax or beeswax, the proportion by weight of resin exceeding the wax. The composition is made by dissolving 4 parts of the resin to 1 of wax in benzol or light coal tar naphtha. The coating may be applied by dipping, spraying or by rollers and the solvent is entirely evaporated, assisted if necessary by a hot air blast. The galvanized sheets may be pre-coated with chromic acid, or chromates or phosphates, in acid or alkaline solution, and may be coated in strip form.ALSO:A corrosion-inhibiting composition especially for galvanized sheets consists of a coumarone/indene resin and a wax plasticizing agent, e.g. paraffin wax or beeswax, the proportion by weight of resin exceeding the wax.
