Abstract

The invention comprises ester-amides of n-heptanoic acid having the formula <FORM:0989009/C2/1> wherein R and R11 represent hydrogen or a methyl radical, and the preparation thereof by reacting together under dehydrating conditions n-heptanoic acid or its chloride or anhydride and diethanolamine or a diethanolamine mono-substituted on one or both of its carbon atoms adjacent to an oxygen atom by a methyl gorup.ALSO:Homopolymers and copolymers of vinyl chloride are plasticized by incorporating therein from 5% to 200% by weight of an ester-amide of n-heptanoic acid having the formula:- <FORM:0989009/C3/1> wherein R and R11 represent hydrogen or a methyl radical. An exemplified composition comprises polyvinyl chloride, plasticizer, dibasic lead phosphite and dibasic lead stearate.
