Abstract

A coating lacquer comprises an organic solvent (e.g. methyl ethyl ketone/toluene or cyclohexanone), from 10 to 20% by weight of a vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile co-polymer, from 1 to 6% of a solvent-soluble, condensible amine aldehyde resin, e.g. melamine-formaldehyde resin, from 1 to 30% of a solventsoluble organic acid condensation catalyst having at least two carboxyl groups, e.g. maleic acid and fractional percentages of wax and a slippage agent.ALSO:A flexible, transparent wrapping material is made by applying to a sheet of regenerated cellulose a thin layer of a coating lacquer comprising an organic solvent, from 10-20% by weight of a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile, from 1-6% cf a solvent soluble, condensible, amine-aldehyde resin, e.g. melamine-formaldehyde resin, from 1-30% of a solvent-soluble organic acid condensation catalyst having at least two carboxyl groups, e.g. maleic acid, and fractional percentages of wax and slippage agent, and heating the coated sheet to evaporate the solvent and to anchor the lacquer layer to the sheet.
