988,699. Rotary sieves. YAWATA IRON & STEEL CO. Ltd., and G. YOSHIKAWA. July 6, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 24550/61. Heading B2H. An inclined, rotary, cylindrical sieve drum supplied at one end with metal scrap by a shoot 11 has a number of rails extending spirally along its inner surface and projecting from its outlet end, whereby the largest pieces are carried to the ends of the rails and collected, the next largest pieces fall from the end of the drum, and the smaller pieces fall through different sized perforations 13, 14 in the drum wall. The drum is supported by rollers 7 engaging rings 2, and the latter are engaged laterally by rollers 8. A motor 9 drives the drum via gears 3 and 10. The rails may be of triangular, semi-circular or rectangular crosssection.
