In a process for moulding an article from a solidifiable liquid material, e.g. clay slip, molten lipstick, rubber latex, gas bubbles present in the liquid are eliminated, prior to or during moulding, by subjecting the liquid material, for a predetermined length of time, to a pressure at which the gas dissolves therein. In one example molten lipstick 10 is introduced into mould cavities 19 and forms a layer 23 above these cavities. Compressed air at a pressure of 50-100 lbs. per square inch is admitted to the upper surface of layer 23 for a period of five minutes. While the pressure is applied the mould may be heated to prevent solidification of the lipstick. If desired, the compressed air may be applied to a mat (not shown) in contact with the upper surface of the layer 23.
