Abstract
987,337. Rear-view mirrors. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. April 1, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 12875/63. Heading B7J. A rear-view mirror 4, Fig. 1, carried by a supporting arm 5 is adjustable for position from the inside of a vehicle by a flexible shaft 15, a coupling 12, 14 and a spindle 10, a bevel gear 11 and a bevel gear 18 on a shaft 19 to which the mirror is adjustably secured by a clip 23 and clamp 24, the gears 11, 18 being enclosed in a housing 6. The latter has a bush extension 9 for the spindle 10 and an opening 22 closable by a disc 21 provided with a bearing for the shaft 19 and secured by a circlip 20. The sheath 17 of the flexible shaft 15 is secured to the extension 9 by a cap nut 16. In another embodiment the shaft 19 carries a worm-wheel drivable by a worm coupled to the flexible shaft, the gear housing being in two parts, as described with reference to Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The flexible shaft in both embodiments is rotatable by a knob on the vehicle dash.
