[Also in Division F4] An electric lighting fitting comprises two elements normally closed together to enclose one or more lamps being held closed by a clip attached to one of the elements and having a limb engaging the other element, the limb and the other element being slidable relative to one another upon movement of the elements to an open position, a stop on the limb then engaging the element, the limb having at least one wave or hump to engage the element and resist relative movement of the two elements past an intermediate position. In one form, the fitting consists of a diffusing bowl 10, Fig. 1, having a circular opening 11 closed by an element 12 having a flange 13. Clips 14 of hair-pin form with an intermediate coiled portion 15 are arranged at diametrically opposite points on the flange 13 and pass through slots 17 in a metal ring surrounding the opening 11. The ends of the clips are formed as loops 19 which engage the extremities of the slots 17 when the element 12 is moved downwards. Each limb has also a hump 20 which retains the element 12 in closed position. In a modification, the diffuser bowl 25, Fig. 4, is supported on a ceiling plate 26 by means of clips 27 of hair-pin form having coiled portions 28 secured to the plate 26 and looped ends 34. The bowl 25 has a post 31 projecting up from a boss 32 at the centre and formed with anelongated loop 30 through which the limbs of the clips pass. Each limb has a hump 33 which engages the loop 30 to hold the bowl in raised position and a second hump 35 by which the bowl may be retained in an intermediate position, the loops 34 serving to retain the bowl in the lowermost position.
