Abstract

986,766. Gas cooker hot plates. RADIATION Ltd. June 28, 1963 [May 4, 1962], No. 17148/62. Heading F4W. A gas cooker hot plate burner unit comprises incandescent gauze radiant burners b such as referred to in Specification 798,076, having heat-resisting glass cover-plates e supported above the burner radiating heads c by rings f, each of which has three outwardly-projecting, equiangularly-spaced ribs g, g<SP>1</SP> resting on a hot plate pressing h and locating the cover-plates. The rib g is common to adjacent rings f, thereby making the two rings one component. The periphery of each cover-plate extends over spillage troughs l. The cover-plates, which are preferably radially-ribbed, may also be perforated; for example, to house a thermostat sensing head j, which projects through a corresponding aperture in the burner and is shielded therefrom by a tubular extension k. In another embodiment, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), each cover-plate is supported above a duplex burner by a metal ring carried by three equiangularlyspaced studs in sockets secured to a hot plate pressing, said studs also clamping the burner head outlet flange to the said pressing. The duplex burners comprise a gauze burner head having central and annular zones fed from vertically and horizontally disposed mixing tubes respectively. The cover-plates may be made of silica glass of the type referred to in Specifications 442,056 and 533,053.
