Abstract
1,072,278. Fluid heaters. SELAS CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Sept. 2, 1965 [Nov. 13, 1964], No. 37617/65. Headings F4A, F4B and F4S. A fluid heater comprises a tube 21 extending through two elongated chambers, one above the other, the lower chamber 4 having burners to heat the tube by radiation and being separated from the upper chamber 8 by a radiation screen 24 which is apertured to allow the combustion products to pass into the upper chamber. The radiation shield may be an apertured arch or may take the form of two projecting shoulders (Fig. 3, not shown). The tube support 19 is mounted on a removable floor 13, supported by jacks 15 on a carriage 16 so that the tube may be readily removed for inspection or repair.
