986,279. Machine-tool details. T. H. BOWERS. Aug. 15, 1963 [Oct. 16, 1962], No. 39037/62. Heading B3B. A machine-tool bed cover comprises two portions X, Y folded to form a succession of ridges and valleys, the ridges of portion X being opposite the valleys of portion Y, forming a flexible cover which may be used between slides or between a slide and a fixed part. The cover may extend between plywood formers 10 having slots 11 lined with brass 12 for engaging the bed. Alternatively, the several sections required for a complete cover may be formed together and secured over the formers. As shown, Fig. 2, a section of the cover is made by sandwiching between flexible sheets trapezium-shaped reinforcing panels and stitching the sheets together along the spaces between the panels. Five portions X, Y are provided, corresponding with the edges a, c, e, g and i of the formers 10, and four corner zones result from folding the section. These correspond with the edges b, d, f, h of the formers and comprises zig-zag ridges joining those in the adjacent portions.
