Abstract

986,259. Feeding webs. EASTMAN KODAK CO. March 6, 1964 [March 7, 1963], No. 9490/64. Heading B6B. A web 10, Fig. 2, is passed in succession over three members 12, 13, 14 forming a triangle and having curved surfaces provided with rows of perforations 20 through which air is blown to maintain the web out of contact with the surfaces. Each row (20-24, Fig. 4) of perforations, comprising those perforations, in all three members, over which a given, longitudinal part of the web passes, is supplied from a separate conduit (40-44) through a valve (46-50). Greater air pressure is supplied to the outer rows, and only those rows which are covered by the web, which is centrally arranged, are supplied. The rows of perforations may be replaced by porous strips made with small porous apertures. In another form, Fig. 6, the web exit path is offset with respect to the entrance path.
