[Also in Division H2] An article comprises a head portion and an insert portion, the insert portion being in the form of a sleeve strengthened by a sheet member inside the sleeve with opposed edges thereof connected to opposite parts of the sleeve interior wall. A method of securing the insert in sheet material comprises using the insert as a punch in co-operation with a die 8 to perforate the sheet 7, the insert being forced into the place of the sheared out piece of material. The insert is formed from a metal blank comprising a rectangular strip 1 with tongue forming parts 2 and 3 and an integral extension 4 which forms the head. The blank is bent into a closed "S" formation 5, the parts 2 and 3 being bent outwardly. When the insert is forced through a metal or printed circuit panel the tongues 2 and 3 are pressed into the panel by the leading face of the punch 11 and make good electrical contact therewith. The part 4 may be formed as a contact blade or a socket therefor, a tapered plug or socket, a solder tag or a wire wrapping post. The outside of the sleeve may be knurled or corrugated.
