986,115. Regulating furnace pressure. INDUSTRIE - COMPANIE KLEINEWEFERS KONSTRUKTIONS - UND HANDELSGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. May 9, 1961 [June 11, 1960], No. 16810/61. Heading F4B. The pressure of the gases within a furnace is maintained constant by a damper pivoted about an eccentric axis in the flue outlet and having a counterweight on a lever arm adjustable so that the angle between the plane of the damper and the effective lever arm of the counterweight assembly can be varied to maintain a desired furnace pressure. A rod welded to the damper 24 carries knife edges 28 at its ends engaging V-shaped rests 29a supported by brackets on a flange 25a surrounding a collar which is mounted on the furnace flue outlet. One end of the rod carries an eyed arm 32 engaging the forked end 33 of a cranked lever 35 carrying the counterweight 36. The knife edges 28 are arranged in the horizontal mid-plane of the damper, and the angle of the lever arm 35 with the damper plane and the position of the counterweight 36 can be set so that the action of the damper maintains the pressure within the furnace constant.
