Abstract

985,767. Time alarm signals. COULTER ELECTRONICS Ltd. Aug.15, 1963 [Sept. 4, 1962], No. 32372/63. Heading G3T. A device for signalling the elapse of a number of selected time intervals sequentially, e.g. for use in conducting a number of different laboratory tests being made concurrently, comprises an electrical clock motor 44 of which the output shaft 48 rotates in relation to a fixed chromatic scale 56 carries a transparent disc 60 overlying the scale, this disc having a circular array of individual sockets 64 in registry with the scale, the motor being in circuit with a signal means such as a flashing lamp 92 and a buzzer (not shown), and a switch 84, 86 normally biased to a position rendering the signal means inoperative, and switch actuating means such as a set of pegs 74 which can be plugged into the sockets 64 to operate sequentially the switch 84, 86. The disc 60 may make one revolution in, say, one or two hours, the device is contained in a box 20 tiltably mounted on a base 36 which has provision for retaining the pegs for use in rows of different colours for identification, there being spaces 72 opposite the pegs for entering particulars of tests in progress. The device can be plugged in to a mains and is illuminated by lamps 96, 98. The motor is separated from the signal circuit by a transformer, not shown.
