Abstract

985,436. Drying fabrics. BELOIT CORPORATION. March 14, 1962 [May 4, 1961], No. 9859/62. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D2] A travelling paper web W is heated by rolls 10 to a temperature of from 150‹ to 212‹ F. and is then pressed against a looped felt F by press rolls 13, 14, the felt F having been cooled by one or more cold water sprays 19, 21 and dewatered by press rolls 23, 24 before entering the nip between the rolls 13, 14. The web and the felt are separated at the off-running side of the nip. The press roll 23 may be perforated and house a vacuum box 23a, and the press roll 14 may be formed with blind holes in its surface. The web W finally passes to a drying section comprising a number of dryer rolls 15.
