Abstract
984,876. Transistor amplifying circuits. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. May 10, 1963 [May 11, 1962], No. 18600/63. Heading H3T. A transistor amplifier comprises a voltageamplifying stage T 2 , Fig. 1, driving an output stage T 1 in common-collector connection which feeds into an output load R L via a capacitor C. According to the invention, in order to reduce the loss at low frequencies due to the capacitor C, negative feedback is applied to the transistor T 1 by the inclusion of a resistor R 3 in its collector circuit and returning the load resistor R 1 of the amplifying stage T 2 to the collector of the stage T 1 . The emitter-circuit resistor R 2 of the transistor T 1 may be replaced by the emitter collector path of a further transistor T 3 , Fig. 3, in which case the base of this further transistor may be driven by returning it to the cathode of the amplifying transistor T 2 . The transistor T 3 may be of opposite conductivity type to the transistors T 1 , T 2 . In this arrangement the collector circuit resistor R 3 may be used to derive a voltage for automatic gain control, the voltage across this resistor being applied via capacitor C 2 to a rectifier circuit comprising diodes D 1 , D 2 to produce a smoothed voltage across capacitor C 3 which is used to control the gain of preceding stages of the amplifier.
