984,592. Drain pipe joints. H. A. ROALD. April 10, 1963 [April 11, 1962], No. 14308/63. Heading F2G. A strip of filter material 5 is wrapped round the joint 6 between the ends of drain pipes 1, 2 and surrounded by a locking ring 3, which may be corrugated and may also be perforated. The ring 3 is formed by a strap that is fastened round the material 5, the two being preferably first attached to one another and then placed round the joint, the ends of the ring then being fastened together by known means. The filter strip is preferably wider than the securing ring so that its edges protrude, as at 7. Suitable materials for the fibres are plastic fibres or fibre glass. The ring should be of non-corrosive metal or a fairly stiff plastic material.
