Abstract

A method for treating a surface to facilitate the release of ice therefrom comprises applying to the surface a copolymer having the general formula: <FORM:0984518/B1-B2/1> or a salt of that copolymer and a monocarboxylic acid containing from 1-3 carbon atoms inclusive, wherein x has a total value of 10-400 inclusive, n is 0, 1 or 2, each R is an alkyl radical containing from 1-7 inclusive carbon atoms and each Q is a hydrogen atom or a -CH3 or -CH2CH2NH2 radical. The copolymer may be applied in aqueous or non-aqueous solvents, by brushing, dipping, wiping or spraying to surfaces of glass, aluminium or steel which may have been previously painted, and air-dried.
