Abstract

984,431. Regulating switches. PAINTON & CO. Ltd. Sept. 24, 1962 [Sept. 22, 1961], No. 34070/61. Heading H2B. A printed circuit board 2, carrying components such as resistors 8<SP>1</SP> having connections 7 to printed areas forming a row of contact studs 6, faces a parallel conductive surface 10 to which the studs 6 are selectively connectable by a movable contact assembly 4 displaceable lengthwise of the row and comprising two oppositely-directed electrically connected contacts 22, 23, resiliently engaging the studs 6 and surface 10. As shown, a similar arrangement connects a second printed circuit board 3 and a conductive surface 11, the two pairs of contacts 22, 23 being carried by an insulating holder 12 of assembly 4 which has rollers 13 engaging a guide rail 15 for rectilinear movement therealong by a control knob 25 projecting through a slot 27 in an escutcheon plate 28. A masking strip 30 prevents dust from reaching the interior of the device. A pip 31 on holder 12 operates a limit switch 33 at one end of travel of the assembly 4. An embodiment with arcuate movement is mentioned. Escutcheon plate 28 may be of light diffusing material illuminated as in Specification 885,536.
