In a rake-wheel type of haymaking machine the rake-wheels 14 are mounted on cranks 23 and co-operate with means for simultaneously varying their inclination to the ground without altering their inclination to the direction of motion. The machine-frame is J-shaped in plan and comprises two parallel superimposed beams 1, 2 interconnected by vertical bars 3. The device is mounted on three ground-wheels 4, 5, 48 of which the two front ones are castors and have elements 8, to which a drawbar 10 may alternatively be attached, to connect the machine to the drawbar 12 of a tractor 13. The rear wheel 48 (Fig. 11) is mounted on a stubaxle 47 pivotable about a vertical shaft 49 and securable by a lever 53 and sector 50. The shaft is attached to a stub axle 46 received in a bushing 44 on the frame to which it is secured by a pin 54, which can pass through the bushing and axle in two alternative positions 180 degrees apart, corresponding to the positions 48, 48A of the ground-wheel. The rake-wheels are mounted on cranks 23 pivoted on the ends of arms 21 and suspended by springs 25 from'brackets 27 integral with the arms 21. The arms 21 can swivel about vertical axle-portions 17 of arms 15 which are pivoted about pins 16 on the lower framemember 2 and have U-shaped upper portions 18 embracing the upper member 1. The tops of all the portions 18 are secured by pins 20 to a bar 19 connected to a lever 35 and detent 38 on the frame, so that movement of the lever tilts the arms about the pins 16 and hence the angles rakewheel planes to the vertical. The arms 21 are also swivellable in unison about the parts 17 by means of extensions 28 which have ball-and-socket connections 29 with a rod 30, One of the extensions 28 cooperates with a sector 31 to hold all the arms and cranks either in the position of Fig. 1, for tedding, or in a position of greater obliquity (Fig. 2, not shown) for side-delivery.
