Abstract
984,133. Making chipboard. H. GERLACH. May 10, 1961 [May 10, 1960], No. 17043/61. Heading B5A. A plant for making chipboard comprises a cyclic conveyer 5-8 carrying caul plates, a branch conveyer 10 joining the cyclic conveyer at a right angle and running at a different speed to that of the cyclic conveyer, a device 4 for which sprinkles wood chips and adhesive on to caul plates carried by the branch conveyer 10 from and back to the cyclic conveyer, and a press 1 having associated means 2, 3 for feeding and discharging the loaded caul plates, the press 1 serving to compress the adhesive coated wood chips into a sheet of chipboard. In operation, caul plates are transferred between the cyclic conveyer part 8 and the branch conveyer 10 by relative vertical movement between the conveyers 8, 10. A modified plant (Fig. 2, not shown), includes two parallel cross-conveyers 8, each having an associated branch conveyer 10. Another modified plant (Fig. 3, not shown), similar to that shown in Fig. 1, includes a further cross-coveyer 8 which itself passes between wood chip sprinkling devices 4, and further includes a device for cooling the caul plates.
